The Burgundy town of Dijon(21 Côte d’Or, BFC) celebrates with its Fêtes de la Vigne (Dijon Vine Festival) – next – .5 – 10 July 2024
Maybe surprisingly this is a festival not primarily focused on vines, wine or even mustard! – although I suspect there may be the odd glass of wine drunk over the 5 days.
Every other year Dijon holds an acclaimed international festival of music and dance – and held in the historic Jardins Drancy in the town. There is an emphasis on folk and traditional music from other parts of France. Free entry.Dijon is of course famous for its Burgundy wines – the Route Des Grands Crus wine road runs from Dijon to Santenay and the vineyards of Vosne-Romanée and Gevrey-Chambertin are within a few miles of the city centre.

Created in 1946 the Fêtes de la Vigne is the oldest Arts Festival in France! and is held on the pedestrianised streets in the heart of Dijon and features local Burgundy Folk Dance, although dance troupes from abroad and other regions of France. It also involves the local wine where possible and tries to create a village atmosphere.
