In the deepest south west of France lies the wine region of Madiran – renown for producing big red wines from the Tannat grape – and white wines under the Pacherenc-du-Vic-Bilh appellation. Here you will find the wines of Domaine Sergent at Maumusson-Laguian (32 Gers, Midi-Pyrenees).
The Gers is a wonderful tranquil region of rolling hills and few large towns or thundering autoroutes. Thus it is a deserved favourite for visitors from the north.
At Domaine Sergent – a wine estate run by sisters Brigitte and Corinne Dousseau, there is also a charming gite, a typical gascon cottage sleeping up to 4 people, in2 bedrooms away from the (relatively) main road and the owners’ house. Surrounded by vines this is an idyllic spot – plus the opportunity to taste the highly respected wines or buy some of their local produce such as foie gras, duck confit or rilletes!
