Beaulieu-sur-Dordogne (19 Corrèze, Nouvelle Aquitaine) claims to be at the heart of “Strawberry Country” and hence celebrates its Fete de la Fraise every Spring – this year it takes place on Sunday 11 May 2025 (Fête de la Fraise). The Strawberry Festival is a must-see event in the Dordogne Valley. Since its first edition in 1989, every second Sunday in May is an opportunity to celebrate this delicious fruit, bright red in color and with a taste that’s both sweet and slightly tangy. Every year, it’s a real treat: a festival of colors and flavors that attracts visitors to the banks of the Dordogne. Visitors can sniff around the producers’ stalls and pastries, enjoy the entertainment that fills the streets of the medieval village of Beaulieu-sur-Dordogne, and of course, taste the famous giant tart, measuring 8 meters in diameter! The Strawberry Festival is also in the Guinness Book of Records for both this tart and the record for the longest strawberry tart in the world (32 meters}
Beaulieu (literally “beautiful place”) is a pretty village high up the Dordogne valley – above Sarlat and the classical heart of the Dordogne.The departement of the Corrèze is less-crowded than the rest of the Dordogne, and more unspoilt deepest France which is worth exploring..
