Late in the year Jurançon (64 Pyrenees-Atlantiques, Nouvelle Aquitaine), the white wine appellation in the foothills of the Pyrenées celebrates with an Open Cellar Doors (Portes Ouvertes) 8 December 2024 on the Jurançon wine route (La Route des Vins du Jurançon)
In previous years up to 45 vignerons have opened their cellar doors to visitors with their local colleagues – craftsmen, farmers and artists. In the evening there will be jazz and music concerts!
Jurançon produces both sweet and dry white wines – the whole range from steely dry Jurancon Sec to late harvest dessert Jurancon. Make sure that you check whether you are buying sweet or dry – I think these are fabulous wines – preferred producers include Domaine Cauhapé at Monein and Domaine de Cinquau at Artigelouve, both to the west of Pau. The Jurançon co-operative cellars are at La Cave de Gan
