According to the Guardian (9 Jan 2014) travellers through the Channel Tunnel whether by train Eurostar or vehicle (Eurotunnel – le Shuttle) will be able to use mobile devices under the Channel to stay in contact throughout the 30 minute journey – good news for some – maybe not for others who welcome the absence of mobile phone rings and conversation for a brief interlude. The northbound tunnel should be available on British networks (Vodafone and EE) from the summer of 2014, whilst the French telecom operators cover the south tunnel.
