Truffle Festival in the Dordogne

Held every year on the last Sunday in January (26 Jan 2025) the village of Sorges (24 Dordogne, Aquitaine) holds a competition to find the biggest truffle – and its the highly prized Black Truffle (truffe noire d’hiver).

There is also a Truffle Market and the local hostelries will be offering Truffle omelettes! – Fête de la Truffe et du gras

Sorges is known by gastronomes around the world as the capital of the black truffle, the famous “tuber melanosporum”. Sorges hosts a dedicated an eco-museum to its black diamond, created in 1982.
