The French Government has announced plans to extend the high speed train network beyond Bordeaux to connect to Agen, Toulouse and another line to Bayonne, Biarritz and the Spanish Border. This is in addition to a new line from Bordeaux north to Tours and the Loire Valley.
However don’t get too excited just yet – it could be 2020 before these plans are fully realised – and there is a lot of local opposition especially around Agen -the locals reckon that the current arrangements for lower speed connections over traditional lines from Bordeaux are quite adequate.
