Lights, Music and Art at the Calais Abattoir!

Calais has a new space for the arts at the old Abattoir, now known as “le Channel“. This is an interesting complex of buildings which lends itself to a wide range of artistic events – performance (theatre, music, dance) and art exhibitions in a number of different sized and venues. In December the mini-festival of Feu d’Hiver (Winter lights) is held with a wide array of events and displays. 27 – 31 December 2019

In addition to the performances between October and June each year is punctuated by an artistic event. Since March 2008, is Liberties room, art show, food and unexpected, which has emerged as the main highlight. Two weeks and three weekends, a company of artists live in the Channel, interprets its cultural project and disrupts the daily six days a week The companies received, in chronological order. Teatro delle aria, Laika, 2 no thank you, La machine, Étienne Saglio, the Théâtre La Licorne, hawkers and, in March 2015, the unit’s Theatre. (Calais Cote d’Opale Tourist Office )
