An island off the south coast of Brittany in the department of Morbihan. Ile d’Houat is located, along with two other major islands, in the entrance to the Baie de Quiberon – sweeping sandy beaches and a network of footpaths Houat is easily accessible by boat from and several ports in Morbihan. Ferries arrive at Saint-Gildas, whose streets are lined with flower-draped houses and whose port harbours colourful fishing boats; specialist fishing is the island’s main economic activity.

There are a variety of local accommodation options including B&Bs, guest houses and self-catering gites including Hotel de la Sirène on the island. Ile d’Houat is reached by ferry from Quiberon or Belle Ile.
