An Oyster and White Wine Festival (Fête de l’Huître et du Vin blanc) takes place on 15 August 2023 in the Place Gambetta in Eymet (24 Dordogne, Nouvelle Aquitaine) near Bergerac.
The dry white wines from the local appellations (including VIn de Pays d’Eymet, Bergerac and Duras) often based on the Sauvignon Blanc grape will be a great accompaniment for all kinds if seafood, as well as being great by itself!
As usual with such celebrations there will be music, a wine bar and seafood from the Bay of Arcachon and the Ile d’Oleron.
Eymet is a bustling bastide village, considered to be the most English of the bastide villages because of the numbers of English residents in the area – it even has a cricket pitch! It is aboout 15 miles/24 km south of Bergerac, and just 10 miles/16 km from our preferred Bergerac Winemaker at Chateau Grinou
