At Bonaguil (47 Lot-et-Garonne, Nouvelle Aquitaine) 1 – 6 August 2024 there is a Theatre Festival (Festival de Bonaguil) which encompasses both plays and performances e.g flamenco dance etc.
The Theatre Festival celebrated its 54th edition in 2016 and offers popular, ambitious and eclectic shows, for people who love a “cheerful culture”. Mixing classic and contemporary theatre, humour and music, headline acts, international shows, circus, Parisian success, regional companies, not to forget shows for the youngsters, the festival of Bonaguil is an event which gives everyone real pleasure thanks to its diversity and its programming’s quality, but also the exceptional beauty of its site.
Bonaguil is about 5 miles northeast of Fumel on the Lot River on the western extremities of the Cahors wine appellation. It is dominated by its imposing Chateau de Bonaguil at Saint-Front-sur-Lemance, a medieval castle built between 13th and 16th Centuries, a superb and forbidding fortress dominating the countryside.
Nearby Cahors wine properties include Chateau Hauts d’Aglan and Chateau Lamartine also at Soturac. Isabelle Rey-Auriat at Chateau Hauts d’Aglan makes some wonderful Malbec wines – the Cuvee A is amongst the very best Cahors I have tasted.
