The chickens of Bourg-en-Bresse (01 Ain, ARA) are famous across France for the delicacy of their flavour and command a premium from chefs and good cooks.
In December the region celebrates with markets, contests and entertainment, as part of Les Glorieuses de Bresse. The festival is organised between four chicken-producing towns (Louhans, Pont de Vaux, Montrevel-en-Bresse, and Bourg-en-Bresse) over almost a week. (13 – 17 December 2019) These chickens (poulet de Bresse) are outdoor-bred and are Appellation Contrôllée regulated with strict controls on how they are reared.
Roast Chicken for Christmas will never be the same again.
