Lying within the boundaries of the City of Nice (06 Alpes-Maritimes, Provence PACA) the wine appellation of Bellet AOC is only small and lies between the lower slopes of the Alpes and the Mediterranean Sea overlooking the Var valley to the west and the Magnan valley to the east. Due to the limited production, Bellet wine is seldom seen outside the Alpes-Maritimes.
For the red and rosé wines the grapes are mainly a blend of Braquet, Grenache and Cinsault. For the white wines the grapes are mainly Vermentino (or Rolle) and Chardonnay. Although there are only a small number of producers, perhaps the most prominent is the Chateau de Bellet, which you can visit and taste/buy the wines.
Chateau de Bellet 482, Chemin de Saquier, 06200 Nice t: + 33(0)4 93 37 81 57.
Every summer the appellation holds an “Open Doors Day” -for more info on Bellet wine see www.vindebellet.com
