Country village Auberge south of Clermont-Ferrand
Called in for Sunday lunch – their first of the season. The auberge was providing aperitifs for local notables and the army celebrating Armistice Day (on 8 May), hence the rather bizzare table decorations and the crowd in the square outside the auberge.
Great lunch
- charcuterie – paté, mousse and brawn (fromage de tête)- home made
- fish soup with garlic mayonnaise
- roast chicken with baby potatoes and jerusalem artichokes!
- cheese platter (Fourme d’Ambert, St Nectaire and Berkswell!
- Pot au chocolat with cream
With superb bread, a glass of wine (I was driving) and 2 cups of decent coffee €28.00! (about £23.50) – 2014! Sample menu:
