As you head down towards the Mediterranean, Aix is the perfect place to stop off.
Visitors will be delighted by the colourful and vibrant street markets and the typical Provencale cuisine. Amongst the many must-see attractions is the Cours Mirabeau,
a wide thoroughfare planted with double rows of plane-trees, bordered by fine houses and decorated by fountains. For art lovers there is Cezanne’s studio and the sites he loved to paint, as well as the Musée Granet which also features some of his works.
The Cathedral of the Holy Saviour is another sight not to miss. Built on the site of a former Roman forum, it contains a mixture of architectural styles from the 5th to the 17th century.
