Just About 30 minutes south east of Auxerre<\/strong> is the charming village of Noyers-sur-Serein<\/strong> (89 Yonne, BFC<\/em>), one of the “most beautiful villages in France”! (Plus Beaux Villages de France).<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Noyers<\/a><\/figure>

“Curled up in the hollow of a meander made by the River Serein, Noyers<\/strong> has two sides to show visitors : its medieval<\/strong> and its winegrowing<\/strong> facets. Place de la Petite-Etape-aux-Vins, Place du March\u00e9-au-Bl\u00e9 or Place du Grenier-\u00e0-Sel (Wine, Corn Market and Salt Storehouse Squares) are all squares that call to mind the village\u2019s flourishing period of farming and trade, as do the fine half-timbered fronts of the 15C houses.
\nRemarkably quiet and peaceful this medieval village retain much charm, especially as the main road passes it by and the river Serein lends a wonderfully tranquil air to the place. Once a busy and wealthy centre for wine (on the edge of the Chablis<\/strong> appellation) and grain, today its half-timbered houses, old castle, ramparts and towers are a delight to explore.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n
