The Medoc Marathon (Marathon du M\u00e9doc<\/strong><\/span>) takes place on Saturday 6 September 2025<\/span> <\/strong><\/span><\/span>(33 Gironde, Nouvelle-Aquitaine<\/em>)
<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

An opportunity to run a marathon amongst some of the most famous vineyards in the world! With lots of money raised for charity and many chateaux putting in teams, some in fancy dress, this promises to be a fun day (unless you are actually running!)<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Across the weekend a number of Medoc wine Chateaux open the doors to the public for visits and tastings – see\u00a0www.marathondumedoc.com<\/a><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

On the Sunday anyone can take part in the more leisurely Sunday walk –\u00a0La Balade du dimanche<\/strong>:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

During 9km, you will discover the city of\u00a0Macau<\/strong>,(just south of Margaux) from the vineyards to the estuary, on a route punctuated with Haut-Medoc wine tastings.<\/em><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

To finish, take advantage of the festival of street art “les\u00a0gueilles de bonde<\/a>” and of a foodie village to try good local products.<\/em><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

The theme for 2016 was “Tales and Legends” and in 2018 was “The Funfair” (f\u00eate foraine<\/em>)<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

….The Bordeaux\u2019s Marathon du M\u00e9doc; a running event combining \u201cwine, sports, fun and health\u201d, which seems to actively encourage anything that\u2019s normally discouraged in running. Held every September in France\u2019s M\u00e9doc region, this sounds like the most idiotic race known to man. The course is 26.2 miles through scenic vineyards and the participants \u2013 in compulsory fancy dress – are expected to indulge in 23 glasses of the famed vintages en route, while also stuffing themselves with local specialities such as oysters, foie gras, cheese, steak and ice-cream.
