Paris<\/strong> holds its Carnaval on<\/mark> 2 March 2025<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0with a Sunday procession through the heart of the city traditionally from Place Gambetta<\/strong> to the rue de Rivoli<\/strong> and the Place de l’Hotel de Ville which takes from lunchtime to early evening.
<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also known as the Promenade du Boeuf Gras<\/em><\/strong> (procession of fatted cows!) there will be many colourful floats, costumes and masks, accompanied by music and dancing.
<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Workers have always played a central role in the celebrations. What is less known is the fact that the Carnaval de Paris<\/i><\/strong> is also, traditionally, the feast of the Paris police<\/strong>. During the nineteenth century, the involvement of butchers, launderers, traders, and students became essential to the liveliness of the Carnival, which takes place after The Feast of Fools<\/em>. The variety, the multi-class composition, of the participants is found in carnivals throughout the world. Whether in Dunkirk or Brazil, tradition, organization, and the involvement of diverse segments of the population are essential for the well-being of the party.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For 2023 the theme is Le monde v\u00e9g\u00e9tal sous les \u00e9toiles<\/em><\/strong>. (The plant world under the stars)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
