Auvillar<\/strong> was nominated as one of France\u2019s favourite villages by viewers to France3 TV<\/a> Channel in 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A stopping place on the pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostella, Auvillar,<\/strong> south east of Agen, <\/strong>is also classified as one of the most beautiful villages in France – Les Plus Beaux Villages de France<\/b><\/i><\/a>. – “a port on the Garonne river”.<\/p>\n

Auvillar bears taces of its dual religious and trading role. Uniquely in the SouthWest, its centrepiece is the circular covered market\/corn exchange standing on Tuscan columns, built in 1824. This is set in a triangular plaza dating from the Middle Ages with 15th and 17th Century red-brick mansions.<\/p>\n
