High on its rocky spur, the fortified village of Ch\u00e2teauneuf-en-Auxois<\/strong><\/strong> <\/strong>(21 C\u00f4te d’Or, Bourgogne-Franche-Comt\u00e9) still stands guard over the road from Dijon<\/strong> to Autun<\/strong>. From the canal de Bourgogne, along the ‘voie verte’, its silhouette forms part of one of the finest views in the region. An emblematic place combining modern art and medieval events.<\/em> Ch\u00e2teauneuf-en-Auxois <\/strong>is one of the last remaining examples of 14th century Burgundian military architecture. During the Hundred Years War, towers and curtain walls were built to defend the village and the Auxois plains.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
