{"id":348,"date":"2007-10-15T08:07:33","date_gmt":"2007-10-15T07:07:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/frenchduck.co.uk\/wordpress\/?p=348"},"modified":"2007-10-15T08:07:33","modified_gmt":"2007-10-15T07:07:33","slug":"exotic-french-wines-in-the-cotswolds","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/frenchduck.com\/latest\/exotic-french-wines-in-the-cotswolds\/","title":{"rendered":"Exotic French wines in the Cotswolds"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/frenchduck.co.uk\/wordpress\/wp-content\/masamiel.jpg\" alt=\"Maury wines maturing in glass bonbons\" align=\"left\" hspace=\"8\"\/>Finding wines such as Cotes Roannaises AC (Upper Loire), Collioure AC (Roussillon), Madirans from Chateau de Viella, Jurancons from Domaine Cauhap\u00e9 and Pic St Loup from Chateau de Lastours was a pleasant surprise in the midst of the very English Cotswold village of Chipping Campden (Glos) at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bennettsfinewines.com\">Bennetts Fine Wines<\/a>.<br \/>\n<strong>C\u00f4tes Roannaises <\/strong>wines come from the area around Roanne (42 Loire, Rh\u00f4ne-Alpes) and are based on the Gamay grape &#8211; but with rather more intensity than found in Beaujolais.<br \/>\n<strong>Collioure<\/strong> AC is a small appellation almost on the Spanish border and takes its name from the pretty little port of Collioure (66 Pyrenees-Orientales, Languedoc-Roussillon). Predominantly red and ros\u00e9 wines, these are made from grapes picked at the beginning of the harvest &#8211; the latter pickings being used to make the fortified <strong>Banyuls<\/strong> wines.
