Neufchatel-en-Bray cheese – The Neufchatel-en-Bray<\/strong> (76 Seine-Maritime, Normandie<\/em>) holds an annual Cheese Festival (Fete du Fromage<\/em>) in the Autumn: 13 September 2025<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Neufchatel cheese is made from cow’s milk and is a soft cheese often sold in a heart shape. Reckoned to be the oldest cheese in Normandy, it’s history can be traced back to the 11th Century and its popularity may lie in its proximity to Paris (only about 80 miles away). It is aged from 10 days to 3 weeks and its flavour goes well with a French baguette with a slightly tangy and acidic taste which can be described as mushroomy, rich and nutty.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Neufchatel-en-Bray<\/strong> is about 20 miles south-east of Dieppe.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Neufch\u00e2tel is a soft, slightly crumbly, mold-ripened cheese made in the Neufch\u00e2tel-en-Bray, French region of Normandy. One of the oldest cheeses in France, its production is believed to date back to the 6th century. It looks similar to Camembert, with a dry, white, edible rind, but the taste is saltier and sharper. It has the aroma and taste of mushrooms. Unlike other soft-white-rinded cheeses, Neufch\u00e2tel has a grainy texture. It is most usually sold in heart shapes but is also produced in other forms, such as logs and boxes. It is typically matured for 8\u201310 weeks. <\/em>wikipedia<\/a>
