Beyond being one of the most impressive Chateaux of the Loire Valley – the Chateau de Chenonceaux is also at the heart of a wine appellation: Touraine Chenonceau.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n

The wines of the Touraine Chenonceau appellation are dry white (from Sauvignon) and reds (from C\u00f4t and Cabernet Franc).<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

On 19 July 2025<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0there is a tasting of these wines at the Chateau de Chenonceau – Degustation Sous Les Etoiles<\/em> – wine tasting under the stars – in the floodlit gardens of the Chateau.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n

Property of the Crown, then royal residence, Chateau de Chenonceau is an exceptional site not only because of its original design, the richness of its collections, its furniture and its decorations, but also because of its destiny, since it was loved, administrated and protected by women, who were all extraordinary and who, for the most part have marked history.<\/em><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

For the historical background, the \u201cCh\u00e2teau des Dames\u201d was built in 1513 by Katherine Bri\u00e7onnet, and successively embellished by Diane de Poitiers then Catherine de Medici. Chenonceau was protected from the hardship of the revolution by Madame Dupin.<\/em><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

The iron, but very feminine, fist in the velvet glove has always preserved Chenonceau during times of conflict and war in order to make it forever a place of peace.<\/em><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Chenonceau Castle has an exceptional museum collection of the Old Masters\u2019 paintings: Murillo, Le Tintoret, Nicolas Poussin, Le Corr\u00e8ge, Rubens, Le Primatice, Van Loo… as well as an extremely rare selection of Flanders Tapestries from the 16th century.<\/em><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
