A new museum has opened in Lyon<\/strong> at the confluence of the Rho\u0302ne and Sao\u0302ne Rivers, two of the major rivers of France: Mus\u00e9e des Confluences<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"musee_des_confluences2\"<\/a>
\nIt is an interdisciplinary institution that interprets anthropology, ethnology and the natural sciences through narrative exhibits that touch on humankind\u2019s many stories accounting for the origins of the universe in various societies.<\/p>\n

The 180 million euro building sits at the tip of a peninsula on one of the most spectacular sites in France, the confluence of the majestic Rh\u00f4ne and Sa\u00f4ne Rivers. The entrance is encased in a glass-and-steel \u201ccrystal,\u201d and there are two stories of black-box galleries within the flowing shape of a faceted \u201ccloud\u201d that resembles a spaceship. The exhibition space hovers above a concrete podium that contains two auditoriums, conference rooms and service areas. The building is immediately adjacent to the A7 autoroute through Lyon.<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n

In keeping with many museums in France it is closed on Mondays and public holidays(why??) although open until 10pm on Thursdays!
