FILM FESTIVAL<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Cannes is famous for its glamorous annual Film Festival May 13 – 24 May 2025<\/mark><\/strong> so unless you are especially interested in the spectacle, red carpets, papparazzi etc Cannes is possibly a place to avoid for the week. – see www.festival-cannes.com<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the 12 strokes of midnight on New Year’s Eve, the City of Cannes features a pyrotechnic show: Feu d’artifice du Nouvel An. In 2017 this unique creation was devised exclusively for Cannes by Fabrice Chouillier (fireworks designer rewarded with the 2010 Vestale d’Or in the Pyrotechnics Art Festival). A succession of the finest compositions of colours and effects will offer an exceptional show to ring in the New Year. The 2016 theme was Star Wars!<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n

Whilst there are plenty of fine hotels in Cannes, you could try the self-catering apartments Cocoon’in Cannes<\/a> in the Old Town, just 100 metres from the Old Port<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you tire of the beaches, explore the Old Town (called Le Suquet<\/em>) which clusters on a low hill. The must-do excursion from Cannes is the boat trip to the \u00celes de L\u00e9rins, two offshore islands which are both a haven of peace \u2013 the perfect cure for visitors who just cannot keep up with the frenetic pace of life in Cannes itself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
