The town of Annecy has all the attractions of a modern city, but also has its medieval centre, and being lakeside it offers great views over this most picturesque of lakes &#8211; and you can take a boat trip or hire a self-drive boat to explore the lake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For the adventurous it makes an ideal stop on the route over the Alps to northern Italy &#8211; but is also on the TGV fast train network. A circuit of the lake by road is about 20+ miles, but is well worth it to see the lake in its various aspects &#8211; although there are plenty of places to stop off and just relax with the tranquil view.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the Spring <strong>Annecy<\/strong> holds its <strong>Venetian Carnaval<\/strong> <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>7 &#8211; 9 March 2025<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>with an Italian theme! &#8211; see <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aria74.fr\/pages\/carnaval-venitien\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Carnaval-Venitien<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Annecy has been called the Alpine Venetia with its canals crossing the historic town.
