Throughout the weekend there will be concerts large and small, formal and informal in cafés, restaurants, public spaces and halls. There will be classical, folk, jazz, electro and dance music showcasing the violin in all its many guises including music from other cultures. In addition there will be classes, films etc.

The violin used to be a traditional instrument in this part of southern Burgundy, which all but disappeared. The Morvan is a mountainous area lying just to the west of the Côte d’Or. It is a northerly extension of the Massif Central and a National Park ( Parc naturel régional du Morvan) – an area of wide open spaces, wild and unspoiled nature, lakes, forests, rivers, a territory located in the heart of Burgundy and marked by a strong historical and cultural footprint? – see
