Reminiscent of Elizabeth David’s very readable book An Omelette and a Glass of Wine (Cook’s Classic Library) about France and cooking, Beaulieu-sur-Layon (49 maine-et-Loire, Pays de la Loire) holds its Omelette Festival (Foire a l’Omelette) alongside a Wine Fair with wines from the Anjou, Bordeaux, Champagne and elsewhere on the weekend of 2-3 August 2008
More than 8,000 eggs are broken to make the omelettes to eat at the fete, also there is a grand show of birds, parrots and fancy fowl! For more info see http://www.beaulieu-sur-layon.com
